Random sketch pages from the past week or so. Clicky-clicky to launch full view:

I’ve mostly been working on the five millionth iteration of the portfolio site (the layout is almost there and then I have to start piecing the thing together via XHTML/CSS - fun!), and painting happily away in Open Canvas and Photoshop. More on the horribly addictive Open Canvas in a later post.

Baggio and I both have steenkin’ colds this week, so we’ve been sitting in a sea of snotty tissues feeling sorry for ourselves. When I was wee I used to cheer myself up by drawing intricate portraits in biro (biro!) of whomever was currently in my favour, whether they be an actual real-life celebrity or a comic character (this usually meant Simon Bisley’s Lobo, Tank Girl or, erm, Keith Flint). Anyway, my drawing muscles are starting to atrophy from drawing nothing but cute Kindergarten-to-Third-Grade things in Flash for six years, so I thought I’d give myself a workout - the following thumbnails are the result of which. Some are from photo ref (note Nicole Kidman’s wonky eye) and some are from my head (Death by Smoothie!) I need a lot more practice, but I’m starting to work those muscles a little better. I’m trying to get at least a sketchbook page a day done, so we’ll see how it goes.
P.S. I’m now asking Santa for an electric pencil sharpener!
